Dr James A. Scudder is the son of a Methodist preacher. He was born and raised in Kentucky . All his life he yearned for a career in politics, but through a series of events God called him into the ministry.

In a dorm room while attending the University of Kentucky , Dr. Scudder was introduced to the Gospel of grace and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He then enrolled in Florida Bible College, where he later graduated. While there, he met his wife, Linda and had two children, Jim and Julie.

This little church would plant the seeds of worldwide ministry. Today he pastors one of the largest evangelical congregations in Chicago 's northwest suburbs.

Dr. Scudder's faith and vision have led him to several countries, including India, where he has led thousands to Christ and has shepherded a growing network of church-planting and relief ministries. He has also preached in China, Russia, Israel, and Jordan. He has led several tours of the Middle East. Dr. Scudder has had the opportunity to open both Houses of Congress in prayer and has hosted former U.S. Speaker of the House, J. Dennis Hastert at Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church .

Dr. Scudder is the author of many books, including: Your Secret to Spiritual Success, The End of Time, Beyond Failure, More Than a Miracle, Living Water, and The Lift-Off. Dr. Scudder is a frequent guest on television and radio talk shows around the country.

Dr. Scudder and Linda and have two grown children, Julie Dearyan and Rev. James Scudder, Jr. Julie is the senior editor of Victory In Grace Magazine as well as a frequent co-host of Victory In Grace radio and television. Her husband, Neal is the Director of Media Ministries at Victory In Grace.

Reverend Jim Scudder, Jr. is now pastoring alongside his father. Pastor Jim and Dr. Scudder have their own series that they are preaching, as well as preaching a series together. Dr. Scudder is also the proud grandparent of four grandchildren, Jamie, Amanda, Amy and Erica.
